This week, you’ll find dozens of free events with plenty of financial tips – it’s Money Smart Week! Time to boost your money smarts and develop a lifetime skill.
Find local Money Smart workshops and resources on how to buy a home, boost a credit score, save for college, invest, avoid identity theft, and teach kids to save. In Iowa, find Scout nights and shred days, DASH for the STASH investor events and piggy bank decorating, Money Smart Kids READ and kite events here.

The TeleTown Hall event on Tuesday, April 25 at 10 a.m. features Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller discussing imposter scams, including the “grandparent” and “IRS” scams. AARP is hosting this timely event since imposter scams have surpassed identity theft as a bigger threat to consumers, according to the Federal Trade Commission. Register here.
The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago supports Money Smart Week nationally now, and annually works with the Iowa JumpStart Coalition and more than 250 Iowa banks, credit unions, libraries, businesses, nonprofits and government agencies. Our events for the week reach more than 10,000 Iowans annually.
