We Haven’t Stopped Spending

The National Retail Federation released a study this week showing that 13.2% of Americans will spend their tax refund on big ticket items such as televisions and furniture, up 12.5% from last year.

And, more Americans-42%-will also save part of their refunds this year, compared to 40% in 2010.

As more Americans suffer from overstretched budgets, job losses, and being underwater on mortgages, ads for debt consolidation abounds. It seems like a good deal, but should you take advantage of it if you’re having trouble paying bills?

You have some option that don’t require hefty fees.
